All mixes here are at 320kbps the best quality for mp3…the latest April mix is pretty funky tech house – there are older mixes there too, and its always updated with new stuff…
I think the fact that producers are only interested in filming free parties really says a lot about their attitude to dance music – When you tune into any “commercial” TV or radio stations you never hear anything of the wonderful music from the underground scene —- they promote any old shit above true dance music….. they are simply not interested in the music, only a splash on the front pages about drugs….as this producer says….. “THe more full on the better”
I think this film producer would do well to look at some of the small legal festivals, maybe find one of the EX “underground” crews who have moved into commercial acceptance and now run record labels/festival tents and do a documentary about how that happened…..

Ive got Technics MK5, and you know with technics its all blah blah blah, cos they ARE the industry standard decks. Personally I love them.
Technics MK 5 G are one up from the Mark 5s and offer a button to set the pitch at 16
I havent got a lot of experience with Vestax, I might have had a mix on them a few years ago, pearly plastic ones with a “superpitch” option… i didnt like them…but i had only started mixing then, so no great insights there….
Its worth bearing in mind though, even if you ARE careful with your gear, if something isn’t robust to start with, it will soon show signs of wear n problems. To my mind. If someone puts sommat in a crappy case with crappy quality plastic…. how much care will they take with the internal components?????? Technics as you know is guaranteed quality…..The cases are metal and rubber… They are solid through and through, bits are easy to get and the truth is, unless you have a very nasty accident with them….. you should never ever ever need to replace them…
It might be worth – if you can’t borrow some techs to try again – to see if you can either find a local disco equipment shop or even a pub or club that will let you try theirs, or to hire a pair for the weekend should only be about £50..
PS. YOu can get new technics around £300 each and the second hand ones are finally falling in value it seemsm as CDJs get more popularm – Ive seen them go for £300-350 a pair…..

OK Ive just been told its called an Uninterruptable Power Supply – and it simply supplies a constant 240 volts to ensure your dex stay at a constant speed.
Hope that helps…definitely I have noticed this effect myself, and also lights dimming etc…The power both in the national grid,and in a domestic house, fluctuates depending on demand….its just not exact enough for critical application.
Having said that though. may also be that the Numark dex arent built that well – “Wow and Flutter” are the specs you want to look at in the manual – I do not fully get this but you can research it on the net
– from what I do understand “wow and flutter” specs show the amount of deviation in the frequency occurring due to speeding up and slowing down of the device. This is a sort of unavoidable occurance in decks – and Im guessing the cheaper decks might be worse for this
PS you mention getting technics except for the limited pitch range –
Technics Mk5 G have a button that will make them 16% – quite a cool idea, since the more pitch range you have on the slider, the more sensitive the pitch is to slider movements…with the button you can keep it at the more forgiving 8% until you need it higher….that was quick!

if you can borrow a turntable you can check whether its your numark decks or the power before you have to spend out…..

Yay it works, ok slightly ropey in places maybe… but you cant beat the real live deal… outdoors in the deep dark, 3 foot high table…. people pulling the speakers over and askin for DnB….happy days…. lol!

Tried IE, deleting recent Dj program demo S/W, cookies, and a system restore…. its wierd cant work it out at all…..
